In a recent interview by Washington Post blogger, Rosalind Helderman, Delegate Bob Marshall announced his plan to introduce an amendment to the Virginia Constitution.
Marshall's plan of attack includes introducing a bill to accompany the amendment reaffirming "healthcare freedom" for residents. It would be written purposely to conflict with the federal law, making it easier for Virginians to sue the federal government over the mandate if it is passed.
Delegate Bob Marshall will explain his 2010 state challenges to Obamacare.

I have sent Senator William C. Wampler, Jr, Virginia's 40th Senate District, a copy of our Virginia Firearms Freedom Act and asked that he carry a senate version of the bill to be carried by Delegate Charles W. Carrico in the House. Senator Wampler has failed to respond to my request so he will need some coaxing by his constituents.
If you have members who live in his district which covers Bristol City (All); Grayson County (Part); Lee County (All); Norton City (All); Scott County (All); Smyth County (Part); Washington County (All); Wise County (Part), please urge them to contact Senator Wampler and ask him to carry this important legislation in the Senate to protect our state's rights.

Dear Senator Wampler,
I am very concerned about the direction of this country and the over-reaching power of the federal government.
The majority of the states are seeking to protect their state's rights through 10th amendment legislation to challenge the powers of the federal government not delegated to it by the states.
The language of a bill to be carried by Delegate Charles W. Carrico called the Virginia Firearms Freedom Act (VFFA) was recently sent to you. I ask that you please carry a Senate version of this bill to serve as a challenge to the powers of Congress under the commerce clause that prohibits the federal regulation of firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition manufactured and retained in Virginia. Not only would this legislation limit the powers of the federal government on our second amendment rights, but it would also create much needed jobs in Virginia.
You can find the full text of the proposed bill at http://www.va10thamendment.org/Virginia-Firearms-Freedom-Act.pdf
Sincerely,
(Your name).
I have sent Senator Jill Holtzman Vogel, Virginia's 27th District, a copy of our Virginia Healthcare Freedom Act and asked that she carry a senate version of the bill to be carried by Delegate Robert G. Marshall in the House. Senator Vogel has also failed to answer to my request to date so she needs to hear from her constituents.
If you have members who live in the 27th senatorial district which covers Clarke County (All); Fauquier County (Part); Frederick County (All); Loudoun County (Part); Winchester City (All), please urge them to contact Senator Vogel and ask her to carry this important legislation in the senate to stand up to the federal healthcare power grab and protect our right to make our own healthcare choices.
Suggested script: (Or create one of your own)
Dear Senator Vogel,
Our current administration is intent on a complete healthcare take-over that will drastically transform the healthcare system, cost the taxpayers trillions of dollars, and will result in the greatest power grab to threaten individual liberty and the free market in the history of this nation.
The language of a bill called the Virginia Healthcare Freedom Act (VHFA) to be carried in the House by Delegate Bob Marshall was recently sent to you. I ask that you please carry a senate version of this important legislation to protect our state's rights and our freedom of choice over our own healthcare, our right to choose whether or not to carry healthcare coverage, and the type of coverage we choose to carry.
You can find a copy of the bill at http://www.va10thamendment.org/VirginiaHealthcareFreedomAct.pdf
Sincerely,
(Your name)
If you or any of your members live in one of the counties that is part of the 40th Senatorial District or the 27th Senatorial District but are uncertain if Senator Wampler (D 40) or Senator Vogel (D 27) is your representative, you can check it here.
Please report any responses or lack of responses so we can plan our next move.
